Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Ask Rosemary:
Anthropic (Claude AI)
We send your recipe requests, preferences, and questions to Anthropic's Claude AI to generate recipes and answer cooking questions. This includes ingredients, dietary requirements, household information, and cooking skill level. Anthropic processes this data according to their Privacy Policy.
Firebase (Google)
We use Firebase for user authentication, data storage, and image hosting. Your account information, preferences, and saved recipes are stored securely in Firebase. See Google's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and process payments through the App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat receives your anonymous user ID and purchase information. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
PostHog
We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how people use the app and improve it. PostHog receives anonymized usage events and your user ID. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
Replicate
We use Replicate to generate recipe images. Only the recipe name and food description are sent—no personal information. See Replicate's Privacy Policy.
Spoonacular
We use Spoonacular for ingredient search suggestions. Only your search text (2+ characters) is sent. See Spoonacular's Terms.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:

Cloud storage — Account data, preferences, and saved recipes are stored in Firebase (Google Cloud) with encryption at rest

Local storage — Some preferences and cached recipes are stored on your device for offline access

Secure transmission — All data sent between your device and our servers uses HTTPS encryption

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal purposes.
Your Rights and Choices
Access and Export
You can view all your saved recipes, preferences, and account information within the app at any time.
Correction
You can update your preferences, dietary requirements, pantry, and equipment at any time in the app settings.
Deletion
You can delete your account by contacting us at support@askrosemary.com. This will permanently delete your account, saved recipes, and all associated data.
Analytics
The app currently collects analytics automatically to help us improve the service. We are working on adding an opt-out option in a future update.
Children's Privacy
Ask Rosemary is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at support@askrosemary.com and we will delete it promptly.
International Users
Ask Rosemary is operated from New Zealand. If you are accessing the app from outside New Zealand, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in New Zealand and other countries where our service providers operate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the app or sending you a notification. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
